I am Dr. Hari Shanker Joshi, and it is my honour to serve as the Director of this esteemed institution. With over 20 years of experience in the fields of biomedical research, academic leadership and health administration, I have had the privilege of working in various capacities that have enriched my professional journey. ICMR–RMRC Gorakhpur, as a leading institute dedicated to biomedical research and public health, strives to address pressing health challenges of eastern Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring regions through scientific innovation, interdisciplinary research, surveillance, and community-focused interventions. Since its inception from ICMR–National Institute of Virology, Pune, Field Unit (2008) to its transformation as full-fledged independent Centre (Sep 2, 2018), we are committed to conducting high-impact research on infectious diseases, vector-borne illnesses, environmental health, community-based healthcare solutions, and other region-specific public health concerns. Our focus is on generating scientific evidence that informs policy decisions, strengthens healthcare systems, and improves the well-being of communities. Through collaborative efforts with local/state as well as national and international institutions, we aim to develop innovative solutions for emerging and re-emerging health threats including non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like cancer, diabetes, hypertension etc.
Our team of dedicated scientists and researchers, with the support of technical, administrative and ... project staff works tirelessly to advance knowledge in biomedical science and translate research into meaningful interventions. Through knowledge-sharing and skill development initiatives, we seek to bridge the gap between research and real-world healthcare applications with full dedication, integrity and transparency.
